#INSTANTINSIGHTS - Between Transfer Madness and Financial Fair Play - Finances in European Football
The transfer carousel in European football keeps spinning - faster and faster and ever higher sums. Most recently, the mega-transfers of Christiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Jack Grealish and Romelu Lukaku had caused a stir in light of the tense financial situation worldwide due to the Corona pandemic.
While some clubs are on the verge of insolvency due to the global pandemic, there is no sign of financial shortages at clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea FC or Manchester City. The financial imbalance in European football is slowly but surely leading to heated discussions. In an interview, FC Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn also called for a rethink in European football and talked about a possible salary cap. According to several media reports, this is namely to replace the UEFA Financial Fair Play in the near future.
SLC Management surveyed the financial situation in European football and the opinion of Bundesliga fans on Financial Fair Play and salary caps in Germany's only representative Bundesliga panel with registered participants. (n=5.309)
